When you think of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), do you automatically think of Building Information Modeling (BIM) ?   If so, you should keep in mind that projects are built by people, and not CAD tools.  Even the best people make mistakes, forget things, or might not know what is important in a specific situation.   Your BIM information model might be cool and save you money, but it is only is as good as folks that work on it.

There are actually three aspects to a successful integrated project delivery:

 1 Your CAD tools, be it AutoCAD, Revit, or something else,

 2 Your ability to collaborate effectively with all project stake holders,

 3 Your ability to apply domain expertise as early as possible in a project.

 Kalexo's goal is to help you with numbers 2 and 3 -  Collaboration and Domain Expertise.  We are not a BIM vendor, but try to plug the obvious gaps in the IPD concept.   In reality, most of the discussion around IPD has been around BIM, and we hope we can change that.   The savings that can be realized via BIM is substantial.  However, if you take into account how much time and effort is wasted due to ineffective project coordination, coupled with the fact that really important things sometime get forgotten by the best folks, you realize that BIM is not going to take you 100% of the way.
